After this most contentious and belligerent election, it seems worthwhile to mention that our country is called THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The operative word is UNITED.
When President Obama was elected in 2008 I wrote a letter to the Newark Star Ledger newspaper’s editor which was published shortly thereafter. In effect my letter stated that although I did not vote for him (Obama), he is my President now and I pray that he does what is best for our nation.
Going forth from this election, it seems that there may be a number of issues where both parties can agree upon and as a result improve the well- being and security of our nation. The main effect of this election is that our ship of state will begin to change from a course of a political correctness mind-set which has taken place for the past 30 years and start to move toward the strong moral principles which once served our nation well since its inception.
This dominance of political correctness has spawned the unrestricted right of a woman to abort her unborn up to nine months gestation, the promotion and recognition of same sex marriages, unsecured borders, transgender bathrooms, sex education in kindergarten, holiday trees instead of Christmas trees, etc. We are/were heading in the wrong direction for some time now and with this new president we may have some hope of returning to some common sense values. As I prayed for Obama to succeed and do what is best for our nation, it behooves us all to do the same for our new president elect.
Jesus in John 17:1 prays to His Father saying, “I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one-as you are in me, Father and I am in you.
Let us all become a nation united under God and depend on the checks and balances of government that our founders in their great wisdom established in this great republic called THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Our current President originally ran for election on a campaign slogan of HOPE AND CHANGE. He was extremely successful in giving us the latter. While our nation began its decline in the mid 1980’s, this rate of decline accelerated markedly during the past eight to twelve years.
With this promised CHANGE we now have a weakened military and economy along with a deterioration of morality in our land. The current Administration’s foreign policy gave us the debacles of Iraq, Syria, Libya and the rise of ISIS. As a result our once exceptional nation is now considered only one among a round table of other countries. We have nearly a 20 trillion dollar national debt while there are about 90 million citizens out of the work force, with spikes in the use of food stamps and other financial assistance to its beleaguered citizenry. In addition, real wages for the middle class has not kept up with inflation and our current health care system is virtually out of control.
Our porous borders allow millions of illegal immigrants to enter our nation almost at will, along with a significant number of criminals infiltrating into the US along with copious amounts of drugs flowing in with them. We now have same sex marriages as the law of the land, and a compromised justice system and media. So much for this Administration’s legacy, so much for its promised CHANGE.
Our newly elected President, Donald Trump brings to us a measure of HOPE in that he will begin to stop and reverse this decline of our nation. He will strengthen our military, partner with others to check and destroy our enemies, create tax reforms which eventually will create good paying jobs for our workers, nominate Supreme Court Justices who are defenders of the Constitution and will defend life and traditional marriage. So let us pray to God to bless our new President and Bless our land once again. God has been merciful to his wayward people by giving us a flawed but repentant man named Trump to lead our nation.
